Thank you for contacting the SA Foundation’s Genesis Program.

At this time the leadership is evaluating and retooling the program and therefore aren’t able to take any new referrals. Please check back in the New Year for updates.

Choosing Freedom

Help to Exit

Are you at the point that you want a life free of exploitation and addiction? We know that the path forward can be scary and sometimes confusing… but there is hope!

The Genesis Program provides more than just a program. We provide a home and a community of people who have gone through some of the same things you’ve experienced. We know how hard recovery can be, but we also know how rewarding it is to finally be free to build the life you want, for yourself and for your children (if you have them).

So take the chance!

WHAT DO WE MEAN BY SEXUAL EXPLOITATION?

“Sexual exploitation” can describe many types of scenarios, but essentially is the exchange of sex for basic needs, either by consent or by force. Some situations of exploitation can look like:

  • Sex for basic needs like food, shelter, clothing, etc.
  • A boyfriend who requires you to prostitute or you prostitute on your own
  • Pimps or traffickers who sell you
  • The creation of pornographic photos/films
  • Escort services (online sites and agencies)

While you may not have seen this as “exploitation”, there is good evidence that if you had received the help you needed or had other choices available to you, you likely would not have engaged in such activities.

The Genesis Program is a specialized recovery program, designed to work with women that have experienced such exploitation and who wish to work through the trauma that this likely created.

We will be able to help you access mental health care, find a family doctor and receive professional trauma counselling.

Common Questions

What is the house like? Will I have to share a room?
The Genesis House is a lovely home that has room for four women and four children. You will not have to share a room but will have your own bedroom for you and your child (if you have one).

Do I have to be totally off all drugs/alcohol?
Talk to us about this because we know this can be daunting! It’s likely you’ve not been free from drugs/alcohol for a very long time. We do know that the women that experience the most success in rebuilding their lives are the ones who take the plunge and get free of all addictions. We understand it can be a hard path, but we promise you’ll get the best results! Speak with us about your situation and we can design a plan that works for everyone.

How long can I stay at Genesis?
Most women who want to complete the whole program stay with us for at least 18 months. Because we have a small program, we can design a plan that works for you to achieve your goals and graduate from the program with the ability to live successfully in the community.

Can I have my child(ren) with me?
Yes! The Genesis Program can support you to have your child(ren) with you.

Can I bring my pet(s)?
Unfortunately our home is not set up to welcome pets.

Other questions? Just give us a call and we will be glad to answer them!
